Community & Social Responsibility

The causes I am involved in and care about

I usually commit to causes not only with money, but with my time and voice. I don’t just write cheques, but advocate for causes I connect with and care about. Check them out below 👇

Techpong

In 2014, I launched TechPong, a pingpong tournament for a cause, with Steven Davis (Chimp) and Sarah McCredie (Unbounce). We had an audacious goal of creating a large, substantial charitable impact on Vancouver while engaging Vancouver’s tech community.

Since its inaugural debut 4 years ago, the charity ping pong tournament has raised over $250,000 for a variety of causes including Vancouver’s downtown east side, the Syrian refugee crisis and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Education.

Motionball Marathon of Sport

Motionball Marathon of Sport is a fun day of athletic competition where Motionball supporters compete alongside Special Olympics athletes in a variety of sports. Leading up to the day, teams raise money and awareness for Special Olympians across Canada.

As a an athlete myself, I believe sport teaches you so many valuable life lessons: teamwork, confidence, perseverance and strength. Despite the challenges that Special Olympics athletes face every day, it is incredibly inspiring to see their positivity, determination and confidence.

This will be my third year taking part in Motionball Marathon of Sport. I love this cause because it’s about integration, participation and raising awareness. And that’s what makes it so special for everyone involved.

Donate!

All funds raised are donated to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. Any donation helps! I would ❤ your support. The link to donate is right here.

Mealshare

Mealshare is a Canadian social enterprise on a mission to end youth hunger. They provide a meal to a youth in need every time someone orders a Mealshare menu item from one of their partner restaurants. Buy one, give one.

I love the cause and the company. Full discloser: I know the founders. As their supporter, I want to help them gain awareness in anyway I can so that’s why you are reading about it here ☺

Turn your dining out into helping out. Check out Mealshare.

Tonight For Tomorrow

On Wednesday May 9th, select restaurants in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and Austin will be participating in Mealshare’s one-night fundraiser: Tonight For Tomorrow.

For every dollar spent on food at participating restaurants one dollar will be donated to Mealshare.

Check out the list of participating restaurants and mark your calendars.
